Necdet Yilmaz was born in Istanbul, where the western and eastern fairy tales meet. His drawings appeared in humor magazines when he was 14. After studying graphic design he worked as an art director in ad agencies, such as Grey and JWT. He always loved to write and illustrate for children. Since he moved to New York, where many fairy tales meet from all around the world, he has dedicated his art for children. Necdet illustrated books for publishers, such as Scholastic, Harcourt, Capstone, Compass, Oxford and various magazines. Gold Medal by Society of Illustrators in New York; first prize by Society of Artist Agents and London Transport Museum in London are some of his awards. He recently graduated from MFA illustration program at FIT/SUNY and a member of SCBWI.
